Description
Famille Carabello-Baum
Behind its pale lemon colour, the Santenay Premier Cru “La Maladière” hides intense aromas of lemon, yellow peach, and tropical fruit. Its refreshing palate reveals a certain sweetness, highlighted by vanilla and smoke. The lightly saline finish evolves pleasantly before ending with a touch of mint.
Located above the village of Santenay, the Premier Cru “La Maladière” combines a marly-clay and limestone-rich soil that produces a mineral and lively Chardonnay. Lying at the southern extremity of the Côte de Beaune, the appellation was created in 1937. Renowned for its intense red wines across the world, Santenay also produces a handful of chiselled white wines like this “La Maladière.”
Alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts and aging in the same French oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation. Aging on fine lees. 18 months in 15% new French oak barrels. Fining and light filtration before bottling.
