Chapoutier 2019 Bila Haut Rouge
93 Points Jeb Dunnuck

This is another stelllar vintage of this wildly popular wine. It’s spectacular value and it’s like drinking a soft, juicy version of Gigondas in pretty much every way except, of course, the price.

“Always a great value…Its vivid purple hue is followed by lots of red and blue fruits, floral and peppery nuances, a medium-bodied mouthfeel, silky tannins, and a great finish. It delivers way more purity and elegance than you’d expect at the price and is just a beautiful wine to enjoy over the coming 3-4 years.”. -Jeb Dunnuck

The history of the Chapoutier family stretches back to the early nineteenth century when current owner Michel Chapoutier’s great-, great-, great-grandfather Marius purchased an estate and some vineyards in the now famous village of Tain l’Hermitage in the Northern Rhône Valley. Marius Chapoutier made history in the region when he became the first grape grower there to vinify his own fruit.
