Description
92 pts James Suckling
The “No Name Nebbiolo” began as a protest of the red tape and bureaucracy the Italian wine industry faces. Borgogno found it easier to declassify Barolo and release it as “No Name” than it did to meet the byzantine requirements of the DOCG. The results are often spectacular and that’s certainly the case again with the newly released 2018. As always, this is significantly better than almost every sub $40 Barolo and as good as many that cost twice as much.
“This has a spicy and slightly earthy character with dark cherries and plums as well as walnut and dark licorice undertones. Medium- to full-bodied with dense meaty structure and velvety tannins. Succulent and tense with a dark-fruited, long finish.” – James Suckling
Ruby red colour with purple highlights. Ethereal, persistent with violet, rose, fresh fruits and spicy hints on the nose. A dry, harmonious, velvety, full-bodied wine, austere and generous wine.
