Tempranillo – A black grape variety widely grown to make full-bodied red wines in its native Spain. In fact, it is Spain’s number one red wine grape, made famous by Rioja, where wines are classified. You’ll get primary flavours of cherry, dried fig, cedar, tobacco and dill. It ages well, with some bottles reaching its peak in two or more decades. Aged Tempranillo wines pair great with steak, burgers and rack of lamb. Younger wines go well with pasta or other tomato-based dishes.
