Charles Orban – Blanc de Noir
This Champagne is not usually submitted for reviews, but it’s an outstanding example of how good grower Champagne can be. We love the rich, creamy texture and the depth of flavours. The richness is balanced out by a lovely streak of minerality, and there’s also an incredible assortment of floral notes on the long and luxurious finish.
Golden colour. A very fresh nose with strong plum and blackberry aromas. Powerful on the palate, with wild berry aromas enhanced by hints of cinnamon.
60% Meunier | 40% Pinot noir
The Orban family has been growing grapes in Troissy, a village on the left bank of the Marne, upstream from Dormans, since 1770. Troissy’s vineyard covers 331 hectares, mostly planted with Pinot Meunier (86%). Pinot Noir and Chardonnay represent 8% and 6% respectively.
