“An intense and aromatic nose of jasmine, honeysuckle, apricot, lemon zest and peach with a subtle, fresh sweet basil note in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, refreshing acidity and flavours of stone fruit, pear, blood orange, white pepper, lime and some mango with a long, zesty finish. Pair this with mildly spiced Thai Larb or a watermelon and feta salad with poached BC side stripe shrimp.”
-Rhys Pender, Master of Wine
The Wyse Family – founders of Burrowing Owl Estate Winery in Oliver BC – is proud to introduce a lineup of wines under a new label: Calliope.
Grapes for Calliope wines are carefully sourced from local vineyards in the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys. Winemakers are granted the freedom to escape from tradition and utilize their creative talents to find new frontiers, explore new taste profiles and create delightful, expressive, fresh characteristics in each varietal or blend. With a focus on early consumption, oak applications are minimized, and wines are sealed under screw caps to retain bright fruit flavours and crisp acidity in the wines. Calliope wines are designed to pair with casual lunches on the patio, or with contemporary cuisine.
Due to the nature of the Alberta Government distribution system, Highlander is unable to guarantee vintages. We will do our best to ensure that the vintages on our online offers are updated and accurate. However, if we cannot fulfill your order with the requested vintage, you will be notified accordingly and you may choose to either accept the available vintage or cancel your order.
